The memory of the genocide of the Yazidi group in Sinjar
The visit began with the Sinjar Youth and Sports Forum, where a group of women welcomed us. During the visit, the importance of women's role in building peace and strengthening relations between the indigenous components in Nineveh Governorate was emphasized. Then, we visited the Sinjar Women's Union and met with the head of the union and a number of its members. We emphasized the serious work to demand and obtain the rights of survivors affected by terrorism and support them until they receive fair compensation. Before concluding our visit inside Sinjar District, we visited Mr. Kamal Sharo, Director of Sinjar Municipality, who accompanied us on a tour of Sinjar neighborhoods. We visited religious and heritage sites. The team then headed to Sinuni district to visit the House of Peaceful Coexistence, which was recently opened by Dr. Mirza Dinnayi, winner of the 2019 Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity. We were received by Dr. Mirza, who spoke about the House of Coexistence, which represents a free platform for all people, and its importance in bringing together the components of Nineveh under one tent to implement community reconciliation and peace-building activities. At the end, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims.

International Women's Day
Women are a vital component of society, making up half of the population and playing a crucial role in determining the course of development of society. If women are empowered and provided with the right opportunities, they can contribute effectively to the social, economic and cultural development of society. It is especially important that women are empowered to access education, healthcare, economic opportunities and protection from violence, as these factors greatly impact their health, well-being and ability to contribute to society. Therefore, we must all work to provide the appropriate conditions for women’s empowerment and enhance their role in society.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
The 16 Days of Activism Campaign is an opportunity to highlight violence against women. As organizations, youth and women's groups, we seek to increase societal pressure to work on increasing women's protection and strengthening the mechanisms dedicated to protection, to end all types of structural or cultural violence, which women have long suffered from its consequences during their participation in public life, socially, politically and economically. Therefore, we organized a unified stand to demand an end to all types of gender-based violence and to highlight fair feminist demands, as well as to highlight our role as civil society workers in ending violence against women and girls. We must also work together across different sectors to address various aspects of violence against women and girls, as well as strive to create or enhance fair standards between the sexes for fundamental and lasting changes for women and girls.
